JULIE BECKER

Julie, the protagonist of our wondrous story, is a whirlwind. Even in turbulent or sad times, she can always find something to brighten things up a bit. Local people say, “She can give every dark cloud a silver streak.”

JOHN BACH

John Bach, a handsome American is back in Europe after a long time. He completed a musical education in the States and is happy not only to play at the music festival in his beloved little Black Forest village, but also to see Julie again.

BERNHARD BECKER

Bernhard is a well-known baker in the Black Forest. The quality of its baked goods, the endless selection of delicacies and now also tasty muffins are known far beyond the borders.

AMADEO DE FOULLON

Amadeo de Foullon cannot hide his French origins in his name. He became a traveling salesman at a young age. With his patient horse Rosa and the somewhat old-fashioned sales vehicle, he is always a welcome guest in town.
His repertoire includes exotic objects, spices, fabrics, kitchen utensils and even clothing from all over the world. In distant countries he keeps discovering many beautiful, but also wondrous things, with which he surprises his customers.

ANGELO

In appearance, Angelo is more of a mendicant monk who has no home and lives on the streets. Again and again he appears in Julie’s small Black Forest village. He is a bewitching, but also an equally mysterious character in this fantastic story.
Will it remain his secret where he got the wondrous powder from?

MARGOT MAYER

Margot Mayer has been mayor of the small Black Forest village for many years. As a woman in this position, it is not always easy for her. But…, she does a good job, is popular and has a good soul. She makes no secret of her friendship with Bernhard Becker.
(And will they become a couple? We’ll see.)

ELVIRA, GRÄFIN VON GRAUS

Elvira, Countess of Graus does not have a wand, nor does she have any magical powers. But the nickname “The Witch of the Castle Hill” whispered by everyone in the village is appropriate. She seems harmless. But Elvira is deceitful, cleverly imaginative, ruthless and very power-hungry. She threatens anyone who gets in her way.

TUETUE VON HOHENFILZBACH

Elvira, Countess of Graus has a cat named Tuetue. She comes from the noble Swiss family of Hohenfilzbacher and is the darling of the Countess. She’s very spoiled, terribly conceited, and gets basically anything she wants. She rarely has anything good in mind. She is a rich domestic cat and doesn’t like the usual village cats at all. For the Miracle Muffins, however, she is always and everywhere a danger. You must be vigilant and wary of her at all times.

JEAN CLAUDE

Jean Claude Mathieu de Fontaine is a chef at the castle of the Countess of Graus. She hired him specifically for an upcoming baking contest. He was well known as a top chef in his French homeland. He comes from the noble Swiss Hohenfilzbach family and is the Countess’ favourite. She’s very spoiled, terribly conceited, and gets basically anything she wants. She rarely has anything good in mind. She is a rich domestic cat and doesn’t like the usual village cats at all. For the Miracle Muffins, however, she is always and everywhere a danger. You must be vigilant and wary of her at all times.

JOHANN

A lot of experience is needed to understand the processes at court. Loyalty and discretion are the most important requirements of a good servant. Johann, who has been serving in the castle of the Countess of Graus for many years, fulfills all of this.
Johann, as everyone calls him, always has an open ear for the Countess and knows the etiquette of the high house. Because his father was already employed as the office director of the Württemberg family of the von Graus.

EDGAR EHRLICH

A few years ago, Edgar Ehrlich worked on a large farm in France before giving up his job to buy an agricultural property. Here in the Black Forest he found an old farmhouse with various stables and finally became his own master.
He now has chickens, cows, pigs and even an ox. At the weekly market he sells fresh milk, eggs and butter. He’s a respected man in the village.

PETER BUCHWALD

In the small Black Forest village there is also a young district forester. He was employed by the mayor. It is not easy to keep order in the almost impenetrable Black Forest. Poachers in particular make life difficult for him. He roams through the dark forests with his hunting dog Kuno and sees to it that things are right.

CHRISTIAN FASSBINDER

Christian Fassbinder grew up in the Black Forest and learned the barrel making trade from his father. His family name alone reveals that his ancestors had something to do with barrels. He’s a big, strong man and a respected person in the village. His passion is sweets. But he was particularly taken with Bernhard Becker’s Black Forest gateau.

HERMANN HÄBERLE

Herrmann Häberle, a funny, elderly gentleman, is a fruit seller in the Black Forest. Healthy fruit has been growing in his fields for many years. Especially apples and pears. His stall is popular at the weekly village market. With his trusty horse “Zuckerpuppe” and his sales wagon, he travels through the villages and also sells his delicious fruit there.
